Campsirago Residenza is one of our permanent AIR collaborators located in the northern village of Italy. We started exchanging ideas and making plans for a project together in 2020, when every international traffic was restricted. Michele and Alvise’s visit was a long-waited one, for both sides henceforth, and turned out to be fully-packed with programs for them to absorb the essence of Japanese culture and the energy of this special land Ukiha.

As Michele’s works incorporate anthropological stories of a specific place, we visited mountains in and near Ukiha. This was Mt. Hiko, an ancient holy mountain for Shugendo practice.

Lorenza from the managing office of Campsirago also joined midway. Together we visited the local crafts master’s kiln…

And took a full-course of Japanese experience, meeting local experts.

To wrap up, Michele gave demonstrations of his existing program Alberi Maestri along the chosen historic path of Ukiha.

We will continue working together to create a Japan version of this immersive theatre program this year. First, we will give some performance in Campsirago in coming May, when we review the progress of creation, then Michele will be back in autumn with the finished work to make a final presentation.
