As our first public event, Omnicent produced a contemporary dance and music show Suzuribako at a traditional-style warehouse in Ukiha.
Omnicentとして初のイベント『硯箱』は、シカゴとスイスからダンスと音楽のアンサンブルを迎え、うきは市の特徴的建造物である白壁土蔵を舞台として行われました。
To set up the venue with lighting, we were lucky to have the help of the professional performing artists from our Italian partnering organization Campsirago Residenza, who were staying with us at the time of the event. A local collaborator lended us the lighting equipment, as well as the venue was provided for free by the owner, who was a former mayor of this town. With many more locals showing up to help on the day, it turned out to be a true community event.
ちょうど同時期に滞在中だったイタリア・キャンプシラーゴの舞台芸術のアーティスト達も設営と当日の照明で参加してくれて、プロフェッショナルなプロダクションが実現しました。照明器具は地元の方にお借りし、会場となった蔵の所有者である元町長さんをはじめ地域の方々が大勢手伝ってくださり、うきはならではの暖かな雰囲気で観客の皆さまを迎えることができました。地元の人気小料理店「はちぶんめ」が出店した中国茶のスタンドで開演を待つうち、蔵は満席に。
We had a full-house, with a great mix of audience of all ages and backgrounds, coming from both within and outside Ukiha. Many of them came back to us with fervent reviews, giving us a huge encouragement to continue hosting events like this in this peaceful countryside town.
前衛的な即興の音楽とダンスという、うきは市ではあまり開催されたことのないジャンルのイベントでしたが、遠くは熊本市などからも駆けつけてくださった観客の方々によって会場は静かな熱気に包まれていました。観客の方々からの感想だけでなく、アーティスト達自身からも熱い反応が寄せられ、感動の余波は開催後しばらく続きました。Omnicent はこれからも、このような上質な音楽やアート体験を地域の方々と分かち合う機会をつくっていきます。
